For what it is worth...
I won US single band 20M CQWW using a simple BIP/BOP al la N2NT article 
described in a 1980's YCCC Scuttlebutt article.  (upper at 90 and lower at 35 feet) 
 Damned if I know it could have been better.  But it was good enough.

Put it up and play!!  If you are a good enough operator, the marginal 
difference between perfect and easy wont be a factor.
