[TowerTalk] Military surplus mast sections wanted

Rich:

The AB-577 or "rocket launcher" is much more heavy duty and uses larger
locking aluminum tubes that will get you 50 feet. (I never could find the
extender kit - that will get you to 70 feet). I clamp a lightweight Yaesu
rotator on it with a C3SS and I'm good to go.

The AB-155 is very much like Henry's mast at The Mast Company -
www.tmastco.com (I think). Very light weight. I used it during the CQ VHF
contest last July portable with 2 phased 6 meter Moxons and a 2 meter beam
in between. It all breaks down easily and I put it in a large Cabellas
duffle bag.

Do you have a picture of the AB-155? I'm not familiar with it but we use
the AB-577s a lot. I'm trying to figure out the differences. Maybe an
AB-577 would do what you need.

  Brian:

They are pretty hard to find. I got a full AB-155 kit several years ago
at
Fair Radio. About the best you can do now is wait until someone puts it up
for sale on eBay - but hold on to your wallet !!

The best alternative I have seen is the mast sold by Henry K4TMC who
represents The Mast Company www.themastco.com<http://www.themastco.com/> .
A good price too.

How hard are the surplus masts to come by.
I have been reading about them and seem to be pretty neat idea.

Is there a good place to look for them on the internet.
