An alternative (but $$) is the Amphenol 227-944 with the
.429 die set http://www.amphenolrf.com/pdf/162.pdf
I have a couple of these, both found on e-bay. This
crimp tool meets "Industrial/Military applications" so
almost good enuf for us hams. Like any tool, it is
no better than the operator, but I've found this one
to work very well. I use RF Connectors RFU-507-SI
PL-259 type which I've found at Fleeman, Anderson
and Bird's web site >
>http://www.fab-corp.com/product.php?productid=2305&cat=259&page=1<
The piston-type crimp tool may be found sold under
other names but appears to be the same tool. I am not
sure, but I believe Daniels Mfg Corp in Orlando
makes the tool and under their number of HX4
and mil p/n M22520/5-01. This same tool may
be used for various LMR "N" type connectors
with different die sets.
