RDE if you want low angle DX put in lots of  1/4 wave length radials, at 
least keep adding till the input impedance stops dropping.  If you want to 
work shorter skip and stations closer to home with similar results to a 
dipole, just put in 10-15 radials cut 15ft long (near field radial systems 
reduce earth loss and slightly raise the angle of the main radiating lobe - 
so the rumor goes)..
