The power handling capability of coax varies with the frequency.  I think
1500 watts on HF is really pushing the limits of RG8X.  Anyway, that much
power is not needed to talk to someone only 30 feet away.

I have used it at 1500 watts (Alpha amp), but only for SSB, And only for
short distances (up to 30 feet).  For CW I use 213 or better.
