[TowerTalk] Laddder question

I have one of the Little Giant 17' ladders.
It is a very well made product - easy to use, versatile, very strong (300
pound rating) and made in the USA.

They are rather heavy, especially when compared to, say, a 7 foot step ladder.
But, the weight is manageable and the versatility makes up for it, IMHO.

Be advised that recently I have seen several knock offs of the little giant l
adder made by other vendors (one in particular by Werner, a large manufacturer
of ladders.) The knock offs appear virtually identical to the original
product and they are a fraction of the price. I don't know if the patents have
expired, or if the design is being licensed, but the Werner product looks almost
identical. And a lot less expensive.

Take a look around (try the big box stores, Costco, etc) before placing an order.

for example. Last spring I saw these at my local Costco for about $100.

Every time I walk past one of the Werner models, I feel a knife twist in my gut.
