This antenna installation has an inherently large natural "pucker factor" anyway since it sits atop
a large hill.
If you look closely, you'll see that Jeff also has a safety lanyard around that steel mast he's
holding on to in addition to the one around the boom. Note that he's standing on the iron angle
close to the tower to minimize loading on it, too.
Jeff and Scott, W4PA did a presentation on the K4JNY contest station at the SEDCO Conference
(www.sedco.homestead.com/) in September 2005.

Bold and Pucker factor yes, no question.
No Fear..I don't think so. Notice 2 things: Left hand firmly grabbing trusted steel mast and the
fact that the angle iron bar is long enough that Jeff could be comfortably adjusting the assembly
with 2 hands while strapped onto the boom, but isn't.
I am not suggesting that he should. Jeff looks to me like a talented and smart tower climber to not
be overcome with fear but with respect for it. Nice work Jeff!
My technique is alot less "pucker factor". Put up a gin pole and take the antenna off of the mast,
swinging freely on the rope. Swing the antenna closer to the mast and throw a temporary rope around
the element at the mast to element point. Make adjustment, swing back.
The gin pole assembly and the angle iron assembly are about a push for time. No pucker factor
required on the gin pole method. Enjoy!
