[TowerTalk] Rotor Selection Advice Wanted - Heavy Duty

Hi,

I have the ProSisTel, the model (number escapes me - but it is the one
rated for 39 sq feet). I have been happy with it for the time I have
had it in service - but that is only about 6 months or so - don't have
the data in front of me. But it is appears to be built well. I did not
like the way you had to assemble the connector that attaches to the
rotator box (but that is just my fat fingers). The connections inside
the rotator (of the rotator cable) caused me some problems - there are
very small brass nuts that holds it in place. But, all in all it seems
quite robust and I have no idea if it will fit your tower but you could
check the Array Solutions for specs.

I am turning about 32 sq. foot of antenna (Optibeam OB17-4 and Force 12
WARC7 about 12 feet about the Optibeam). I would not (personally)
recommend the M2 Orion rotator (went thru 3 of them).

Hi Bill,

Im running the alfaspid in my LM470 crankup, fits nice and works
perfect, its turning a Hygain 205ca. Im also using another alfaspid(on
a free standing tower) to turn about the same size antenna you have
there. Your most limiting factor for the rotor selection will be the
width spacing at the rotor plate on the 589 or 689 tower. I wished I
had your antenna, hihi...

Hello Tower Talkers:

I have a Steppir Monstir antenna (Love it by the way).

It has a Wind Surface Area of 23.9 square feet.

I am currently using a hy-gain TailTwister rotor (rated at 20 square
feet).

I would like to replace the TailTwister rotor with one that has ample
design
margin.

The rotor will be mounted in a US Towers 589 or 689 as soon as I can
purchase a used one (any leads on this would also be appreciated!).

73,

Bill Erickson
