Practise learned me that a well ventilated space is preferable to a closed
space. Humidity dries out much faster. Relatif humdity and air pollution is
another factor that can speed-up corrosion. If I remember well, acsending
air rises etc etc.

This may be a dumb question, but why can't they seal the top of the tower 
section so the rain doesn't go into it?  If the water can't get into the 
tower section, seems like that would eliminate a lot of problems.  73 Tom
