An auger on a Bobcat might work better.  The extra weight of the Bobcat
helps keep it in place.  I used one with a trenching attachment to "saw"
about 200 feet of 2-foot deep trenching through some very hard 99%-100%
compacted natural decomposed granite and white quartz (dry - not wet).  I
originally rented a driving-type DitchWitch tractor for the job and it was
so light that the blade wouldn't stay in the ground.  The Bobcat, OTOH,
didn't even break a sweat - and it cost the same.
