Why not convince Steve and Ward to resurrect their toys and do a 2nd
generation comparison of antennas using the C31XR and the SteppIr.  At least
you would have a standard to compare forward gain, f/b and possibly other
parameters too.  After that's done figure out how much value FOR YOU lies
within the SteppIr's ability to reverse direction and provide little VSWR
and of course price.   Minimize the hysteria, as with either antenna, after
spending that much money, it MUST be better...convince yourself!
