Poly, as in polypropylene rope, available 
everywhere, suffers severe UV degradation
in a very short time period.  I REALLY don't like 
polypropylene!    Don't waste your money.

Nylon is VERY stretchy and is not a good choice for that reason.

Polyethylene terephthalate (another POLY) is much better as a rope and is the
basis for the braid over braid style of rope from Synthetic Textiles Inc.

Dacron is a trade name Polyethylene terephthalate and another great rope is
the Samson Stable Braid ropes -- used for rigging and on yachts.  But it is
somewhat expensive.

In any case what you want is a woven braid and not a twisted (lay) rope
which stretches and tries to unwind under load.
