[TowerTalk] Fold/Tilt over towers

Hi to all.  FWIW:

A month or so back there was a thread going on "tilt over" towers. It rattled some neurons in my brain and got the memory going.  As luck would have it, I was going thru some old magazines and what did I come across??? Why the very thing tied into those neurons. ie:  On the cover of CQ mag for April 1999 is a picture of the "tip over" tower of K3ANS, Bill.  Rather remarkable engineering. To bad there wasn't more info other than the picture description given for "On the Cover", if I may  quote:

" No, that's not a tragic disaster scene depicting the ultimate ham calamity. It's Bill Goodman, K3ANS, of Easton, PA, with his custom designed and built tip-over tower. The 105 ft Rohn 45 tower is mated at the base with 50 ft more of Rohn 45 to form an "L" which is hinged to the concrete base at the foot of the 105 ft tower. Those HUGE "angle braces" which join the two tower pieces into the "L". A winch at the far end of the 50 ft "leg" is used to tip the entire assembly, complete with its 5-el 20 meter and 3-el 40 meter Yagis. Three sets of guys in four directions keep the whole thing safely in the air." (The photo was taken by Larry Mulvehill, WB2ZPI)

I guess if you want it bad enough it CAN BE DONE!!!!  And this one is a thing of beauty. The picture probably doesn't do it justice.
