[TowerTalk] Tower Falls, After the fall/save

Good question. I was involved in tower situation recently where rescue
personnel were called in. Luckily everyone involved was OK, but our
conversation with the responders afterward scared the living hell out of
me.....

Basically, they really had no rescue training pertaining to towers. Their
ladder truck only goes to XX feet (forget XX but it was well short of top
the tower I was on), and this is decreased significantly if access is
limited. Here's the clincher though- (at least my local rescue folks) are
not authorized OR trained to climb "above an anchor". This means that there
would be no possible way they could physically climb the tower, because the
only way up REQUIRES that one climb "above an anchor".

Just something to think over, or maybe talk to your local rescue folks
about.

Blake

OK,

If most of us agree that a full body harness attached securely
to the tower at all times, is good protection, then how does
the rescue play out?
