As well as locking the threads, Loctite is designed to seal them against
penetration by water and moist air, so it's one of the best things you
can possibly do to prevent corrosion.

That was mentioned back in August, and it's probably the best solution
if the threads in the casting are already too far gone. You'd have to be
careful to select the right grade of hard-setting, gap-filling Loctite.
