This is a little bit off topic so this will be my last comment on this
thread.

Let's stay with antennas for ham radio use for the time being. That's how
this off topic started. If you want to make a copy of an antenna for your
own use - you can build whatever you want. Who's going to stop you?

If you on the other hand transfer, sell or in any other way profit from what
you've copied then you have infringed on the patent.

Don't let any one scare you. Copy a lot of antennas and have fun!

Not generally in the U.S. (with some exceptions, e.g. taping an album
you own, software backups, excerpts for comment as fair-use, libraries
for rare works, etc.)

Otherwise it would be legal to copy my neighbor's album collection for
my personal enjoyment and listening, which it is not.

There is the practical detail of "how would the holder of patent or
copyright know about the infringement" so you can get away with it if
you keep your activities hidden.

Whether it's for sale, transfer, give-away, etc. makes no difference.

But we are straying way off topic here..

http://fairuse.stanford.edu/ has more than any normal human would need
to know.
