Look for either DC-4 or DC-5 Dielectric grease which was designed 
specifically for use in weatherproofing connectors.  IIRC the original 
DC-4 was used to seal the spark plugs on B17s at high altitude.

If you do a search under Dow Corning DC-4 Grease you will find quite a 
few suppliers.  A little goes a long way.  I know AircraftSpruce ( 
www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/*dc4*.php ) sells a 5.3 Oz tube 
for $14.95 .
"The data sheet" says the shelf life is limited to 36 months for an 
unopened tube, but it's pretty much indefinite even for an opened tube. 
(as long as the cap is put back.)  I have some I purchased in the early 
90's that's still good.
