Hi Gregg!

I have been using the W0IYH bead choke for years on all of my antennas. They
work super and run cold at 1500 watts. No problems.

You can build one (100 beads and 40 inches of RG-142 coax) from the QEX
article that IYH wrote several years ago or you can purchase them from Jim
at Comtek Systems.

Subject: [TowerTalk] baluns

I will be putting up my XM-240 soon and I'm not rel thrilled with Cushcraft
balun supplied. Is there a better one?How can check if its good or not.I
don't want to get it up the tower only to find I have a bad one. Also I'm
reinstalling a D-40 and a D-3WARC which is CC's warc and 40 meter
dipoles.I'd like to put baluns on them as well if only to make it easier to
waterproof the connection.Run a kilowatt with up to 3:1 swr so needs to be a

little robust. Gregg K9KL
