There are numerous ways to fashion a 160/80 dipole.
Years ago Mor-gain made a half size 80 with a full size 40 down the middle
(the 80 was wrapped around the 40). I have two of these up as vertical
dipoles and they work quite well. Jim West KK7C
made a 160/80 version that was the size of a 80/75 (he called it the PM
Dipole). The Cobra K4SAV mentioned is a open wire fed version. These can
be mounted horizontal, as a dipole L. or as a sloper/vertical if you have
something tall to mount them on.
K4TWJ published using ladder line in his CQ column several years ago as a
half size dipole. Van W4GIW tried this and found that you actually needed
something like 62% to be correct. He used this on 75 very effectively.
Simple antennas include a 300 ohm twin lead/ladder line L with the vertical
part as long as possible and the seldom used Multee from both the W6SAI and
ARRL Antenna books. But beware its not very good on 80 and the 52 feet
vertical part on 160 hits
1915 khz. Another 6 feet vertical brings the antenna down to 1835 and low
and behold the 80 works better. You will need a matcher with the Multee.
Good low banding.
