[TowerTalk] Best way of getting a line over a tree

My stepson's potato cannon is quite interesting.

Has three parallel PVC pipes, two outer ones for holding compressed  
air, the middle one is the cannon barrel.

He loads the air tubes from the air pump, and has a 'switch' that must  
be thrown to energize the barrel.  He does this with a set of 6-volt  
batteries and a solenoid.

The barrel is changeable, with smaller diameter for potato-sized  
missles, and a larger diameter for cabbages and 'melons'.

I have seen him 'shoot' a cantaloupe over 1/4 mile.  Awesome 'weapon'.
