[TowerTalk] Interaction between yagis on the same mast

If you are talking about the Cushcraft XM240 and the C4XSL, I have had some
experience with a very similar setup. I have had the XM240 and the C3E on a
120 foot tower for some time. I initially placed the 40 M beam about 13 feet
above the C3E. I had severe interaction and the C3E worked poorly on 15 and
the 40 M yagi was detuned considerably.
I turned the C3E so that they were 90 degrees out of line and the problems
seemed to go away for the most part. The 40 M beam was still detuned a
little but still worked fine. I think that the setup you are describing will
work fine. Remember, if you put the 40 on top there is a truss for the ends
of the boom that needs to be attached three feet above the antenna. This
will possibly reduce the amount of spacing you have available. (I am sure
that you have already thought of this.)
Good Luck,
Bill, W5VX

Subject: [TowerTalk] Interaction between yagis on the same mast
I want to have gain antennas for 10/15/20/40 on top of
my tower and am trying to decide between a 4 band
antenna like the Force 12 C4XSL or a tribander and a
separate 40m yagi on the same mast. Struggling with
which is worse, interaction from having the 40M
elements interlaced on the same yagi or interaction
from having the two antennas stacked vertically.
I'm leaning toward two separate antennas separated by
about 10 feet and one oriented perpendicular to the
other.
Does anyone have any opinions?
Thanks,
Gary
