[TowerTalk] Hy-Gain HG-70HD

I bought one from MFJ two years ago and it was a ONE piece design. It had
the base " ears " for attaching the tower itself, welded to a rebar frame.
This is not enough rebar to do the job by any means but it was a good start.
It was heavy, was delivered on a freight truck by a guy who now has no ass (
because I chewed it off for throwing the unit around inside his truck before
taking it off for me). - Mike

I ordered one a couple of years ago. It comes partially assembled (top half)
and the rest comes in pieces that you can either wire or weld on to the top
half. The first one I ordered was delivered bent, so I had Hy-Gain (MFJ)
send a new one. The cost was $350 plus $150 shipping. Probably you could
have one built for less, but I was considering the legal aspects of a
failure of a home built base, so I opted for the factory assembly. Be sure
to buy some special high grade bolts (total 9) for attaching the tower to
the base. The vertical rebar pieces are 1" diameter, btw.

I mounted a 4-el SteppIR with the options 30/40 and 6 meter elements on the
tower and I am very happy with it. It is very strong.

I am looking at purchasing a used Hy-Gain HG-70HD and see that the TB-70
base is still available. Does anyone know if the base comes in one piece
with the supporting legs tied together or are they three individual legs? I
haven't been able to find any diagrams or pictures of the base on the
internet.

  Thanks.
