Well.. in free space you get a gain of N, for N antennas.. 2 antennas is 
3dB, 4 antennas is 6dB, etc.

And that assumes they're far enough apart vertically (on the order of 
1/2 wavelength), and that ground reflections aren't a factor (so for 
most ham's systems, which are within a few wavelengths of the ground, 
you can't just stack ad infinitum).


The HFTA program that comes with the ARRL Antenna book lets you experiment.
