Yes, John is a super all around guy. He would do anything for his
friends. Let's all pull for him.

John, W2GD / P40W is a very nice guy and a great contester. I am very
saddened to hear this news. John has given me a lot of contesting
advice over the years which I am sure has improved my scores and he is
always fun to hang around with. He has been working on some big towers
lately and luckily this accident did not occur on one of those. In
2005, John suffered a heart attack and several weeks later he put in a
full effort in the CQ WW CW contest. Hopefully he will be able to make
a quick and full recovery after this tragic event..
73,
John KK9A / P40A

W2GD was on a 30' tower going up at K8PO's new station in Maine when
the temporary guying allowed the pier pin to slip off the base and he
rode it down. Deep mud broke the fall, but he has a cracked pelvis,
there was a torn artery, and a minor back injury. Full recovery
expected, but it will be a while before he is 100%.
He is in the ICU at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME now. No word
on how long he'll be in there - probably at least today in the ICU,
then in a regular bed for at least a couple of days. I'm sure he's one
sore puppy.

Probably not taking any calls, but cards would be welcome, I'm sure.
