Hi Marinus -
I use the same unit and have no problems so far.
I'd start by checking that the 3 control lines are delivering the 
voltage and current necessary. Start at the back of the control unit, 
and if that passes, go out to the remote.

The wall-wart that came with mine is labeled 12V. The manual doesn't 
list the voltage delivered, but on page 5, does give the currents 
expected for the BCD coding. I'd expect the voltage to be close to 12V.
