Rusty....that's great.

Tom is a helpful guy and knows his products....he has helped me considerably
with a Hy-Tower.

If I were you, I would also replace the indicator rheostat and wiper while
you have it apart.
It's a cheap part and not hard to do.

Hi Folks-- a followup on my earlier post:

Several folks sent me helpful responses, And Gene S. was kind enough to 
invite me to phone, which I did.  (Thanks, Gene)

operate Hy-Gain, so I phoned Hy-Gain.

Tom in Tech support/Parts gave me some guidance on pulling the motor and 
checking out the gears-- not hard to do.  Pull the 3 bolts holding the motor

mounting plate, lift the motor, and the gears come right out.  No needs to 
mess with unsoldering/soldering in confined space, which was what 
intimidated me to begin with.

As he thought, one of the gears had a broken tooth which was sliding around 
in the grease and binding things up.

So I have ordered a replacement gear, and a packet of their special secret 
sauce all weather grease for the rebuild.

Hopefully that will do it!
