Here is an interesting implementation of the cage dipole. You can see the
open wire
feeders at the center of each dipole, also note the "ends" are closed,
probably more
for structural strength than anything else.
For those of us who had to listen to this d***n thing off and on for years,
it sure
was neat to find these pics and see what it looks like.
