Back in the '30s, open feeder lines were taken very seriously.  Take a look 
at the article below and the insulators Collins once sold for 1/4-inch 
copper tubing,  The combination of tubing and their ceramic spacers made for 
a "real man's" transmission line -- none of this window-line nonsense we see 
today <g>.
