Its been my experience that in general pipe is heavier, not as strong as 
structural tubing, and bends easier.

You might also check into DOM or "Drawn Over Mandrel" tube with a 1/4" 
wall. It comes in various sizes, wall thickness,  and strengths but I 
don't know how you would find it listed on that side of the pond. DOM 
runs about 3X the price of  structural tube, but is considerably cheaper 
than Chrome Moly tube.
