It cost me $60 for the delivery of ready mixed concrete and the truck drove
right up to the hole and poured it in.
There is no way I am going to rent a portable mixer for $50.
Ever lift ONE bag of mix??
I might be able to lift 1 but certainly not 40.....well mebby in a month.

If you go the bag mix route -- rent a small mixer from your nearest
home improvement store. These typically hold two bags of mix (along
with 7/8 gallon of water per bag). You can mix two bags in a couple of
minutes, and they cost abotu $50 / day.

Mixing by hand is a huge amount of effort, and it's hard to get a
consistent mix. If you are going to do 30-40 bags instead of getting
ready-mix, the cost of the small mixer is well worth it.
