[TowerTalk] Ham Radio family electrocuted

The deceased were not hams.  The man's mother is a ham, KJ4KFF.  She was not involved in the antenna work, but they were reportedly doing the work for her.

Bad news all around.

Really sad when someone is killed participating in their hobby.  My condolences to the remaining family members, neighbors and friends.  

 I doubt those killed were hams, no names on the FCC database.  This was a stupid and avoidable accident though.  First they were working way too close to the lines and second it was DARK.

Looks like the mast was a 1073 LCSS mast and not the AB-577, AB-155 or the OE-234 style masts, then the photos are not real clear on the section length.

In any case this all could have been avoided had they first looked up and correctly determined the distance from the mast base to the power lines and not working after dark.

Over the past year there were several tower and antenna fatalities.  Maybe some time we will all do things safety first.
