You also can't have too many if you use a modern email system.  If you
get a free Google account (gmail.com), you get 7+ GB of storage space,
and the interface is very easy to use to filter or archive massive
numbers of emails.

It's very convenient to archive all of TowerTalk (and a dozen other
lists) so that you can go back and search for items of interest
whenever you like.

Friends don't let friends use Outlook Express...
