Subject: [TowerTalk] Limit Switches, LM 470

Larry,
Having added switches to 3 different LM-470's I found that there are
several locations and ways to do it. The DWN relay is the most straight
forward, as it can be mounted almost anywhere below the bottom moving
section.
The upper limit takes more care and some experimentation. I have used the
short 3/8" that is welded to the bottom moving section that acts as a STOP
at
the upper end. The micro switch was mounted with a wrap around bracket on
the stationary section, and the trip lever was a piece of stainless
wire/rod bent to engage the stop mentioned earlier. I have also triggered
off of
one of the cross members with a similar arrangement. The tower "slop" or
wiggle requires some experimentation as the wind can cause it to lean
differently from time to time. The best method is what US Tower does,
and
that is sense both up and down positions with microswitches at essentially
ground level. TriEx does not have a level wind mechanism which makes the
UP
micro a little more challenging. I have made a support bracket above the
winch drum and took advantage that the cable uniformly progresses across
the
drum and there is a point that is equivalent to the tower being fully
extended. At least all tweaks and adjustments can be done standing on the
ground.

Does anyone have instructions and/or photos that DISPLAY the proper
mounting of the limit switches to the tower ?
