I've been real busy and am just catching up on TT threads. On the subject of
tensioning Phillystran, I don't believe anyone mentioned that Phillystran
stretches after initial installation. I believe if you dig deep enough into
the Phillystran documentation (and old threads on TT), you'll find that the
recommendation is to set the initial tension to 15% of breaking strength.
After some number of hours or days or weeks, the material will stretch and
the target tension will be close to the recommended 10%. This is exactly
what happened on my installation. I initially set the tension on my 6700 lb
Phillystran to 1000 lbs. After a few days (don't remember exactly how long),
the tension was down to about 650-700 lbs.
