Adolph's isn't MSG based, it's papain based (Lowery's is MSG) - papain is papya juice for all effects.  IF it's the papain (I understand the other ingredients are salt, sugar, and tricalcium phosphate), FRESH pineapple will probably also work (ever drop some fresh pineapple on some jello?)
