I did that for 40M back in the 70s ---worky worky! Ends were primarily to Northwest/Southeast, and broadsides gave me a gain .. over a 1/4 sloper - towards eastern US, and the other way worked pretty good to KH6, etc... the best results were the QSOs with deep Russia in the wee hours of the morn from here in Far Northern CA --- I am going to replicate that setup here soon, on my small downtown lot..perhaps for CQP? (Look for K6H --that be me .. Humboldt County) ... for the 32' verticals I scabbed together bits and pieces of broken beams and verticals...not pretty, but worked until I took them down for moving a couple years later. Lots of coax running around, I was careful NOT to spool the delay lines. Use multiple coax switches for the double-throw-double-pole necessary ... was not wize to have too many brewskis whilst changing the desired direction of communication! HIHI .. I had set it up for the bottom of the band, but it performed to a lesser degree in the SSB DX portion .. of the day .. like, 7155.
I think the original setup I used came out of Ham Radio Magazine, of yore.... or ??? I'll search it out if I can -- But it sure worked. Again, broadside was iffy ... endfire rocked! Will post results as I get them ...
Notes re: SLOPER: 1/4 sloper better in ALL my setups tested than 1/2 sloper .. do not put attachment at very TOP of mast/tower, but `spearmint with, say, 10 feet down from the top. my tests from Fairbanks KL7, SV, Arcata, Eureka, DC, etc... the 1/4 sloper outperformed any other "omni" for 40M tested - but the phased verticals outdid the sloper, like -- 75% (?) of the time.... just an FYI 73, Mark AA6DX (CQP = KH6)

Subject: [TowerTalk] Phasing 20 M Vertical help...

Hello all....I'm looking into phasing 2 monoband GAP verticals for 20 meters. I
know I saw at one time plans to make a switchable array box that would do end
fire and broadside (4 directions) with a remote switching box and there was even
talk about using an Ameritron 4 port switch that could be converted to switch
the directions and the delay lines.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find the plans for that system? Any
tips or suggestions?

Thanks,

Dave
