[TowerTalk] 2 Element Quad and Baluns

Yes.. You can feed all together, but it's not the best approach. Single
feeds and choke baluns at each feed point is the way to go. If you
parallel feed the lot, it'll screw up the pattern...'specially on 10 and
12, and less so on 15m. If you use the Spider (GEM) Quad type, you won't
require 75Ohm matching traffos on a 5band Quad. If you're using a fixed
boom type (LightningBolt etc), then you will probably need them...on
some bands anyway. If you're not keen on separate feeds for all bands,
then it's a good idea to use two feeds. Feed 20, 15 and 12m in one
group, and 17 and 10m in another group. This minimises the two most
troublesome interactions that are at work, which are 20 and 10, and 12
and 10.
Good luck with your project Daniel, es vy 73

I now have a new question. I am trying to build a two element 5 band (20-10m) quad, it will be on about a 10' boom. I have read some places that say you do not need a balun, and others that say you will need a 2:1 balun if you want to connect all the coaxes to one feed (or a relay.) Can you just feed these antennas to one SO-239 without a Balun?
