[TowerTalk] Gas Tube protection for remote antenna switch's

when a lightning storm is nearby and ya hear that ever rising whine 
in the rcvr that finally culminates in a crack.,,,, something is 
obviously building up on something, before the discharge.
Exactly what is/are the components of that stuff ??? and where is 
it/they discharging ????
