[TowerTalk] "Guying" a 96-foot self-supporting tower <grin>

The idea goes like this:
Couple together, inside the tower, enough lengths of tube-not-pipe to extend 10-15 feet above the tower top-plate.
Set the tube assembly on a vertical thrust bearing.
Center/restrain the tube in the tower, at several points along its height, with shelves and bearings.
Guy the tube only, through the tower Z-bracing, as if the tube were going to be standing alone, with horizontal thrust bearings at the guy-attachment points, so the tube can rotate.
