Jim,

This is why God gave a people a thinking brain, when you go to these wire
rope and rigging places you specify what you need, you tell them what you
want and they will either tell yes we have it or, no we don't.

It is a good point you make Jim, people should make sure that they specify
what exactly what they need, most of these wire/rope places to carry the
cable though. We had no problem to find the cable for a US-Towers 55 foot.

The local Wire Rope and Rigging place Stockton, CA can supply exactly the
same wire rope as comes with US-Towers.

Stainless Steel cable is not as strong, probably why it is not recommended.

You can get cable made up for you at Wire Rope and Rigging place, most
Cities have one, because they supply the local Crane, winch industries.
Just Google search for "Wire Rope and Rigging" for you local place.

## big difference between galvanized aircraft cable... and galvanized winch
cable..
and SS cable. 1/4" aircraft cable is good for 7000 lbs..... gal winch
cable is good for 5700 lbs
and SS cable is down around 4300 lbs. They are all 7 x 19 construction
too. You need the
right stuff.. with the right nicropress crimps..and the correct length.

Hi all,

I will be replacing the cable on my Hygain 52ft crank-up soon, and if I
remember correctly, isn't stainless steel cable NOT recommended? Seems like

galvanized is the correct type.
Also, does anyone know of a source of cable that allows you to buy small
amounts? Google turns up a lot of sources, but I don't need 250 feet of
it, and that is the shortest amount I've seen offered.

Thanks,
Buddy WB4M
