[TowerTalk] Beverage termination - Surge Arrestor selection?

Would it be alright to protect the terminating resistor of a Beverage
antenna, against lightning damage, by placing either one or both of these
components in parallel with it?  Would they cause a problem with directivity
or any other issues?
