One cu ft = 12 X 12 X 12 cubic inches or 1728 cubic inches. If i.d. of tube 
 is 4 inches, area is 2 X 2 X PI = 12.57 sq inches. Total volume for 40 ft 
length  is 12.57 X 12 X 40 = 6031.85 cubic inches. Divided by 1728 = 3.49 
cubic  feet.
