[TowerTalk] Anyone using an ISOPOLE antenna?

I use an Isopole on 2 meters and indeed there is a dead short. You can
still get the instructions for the Isopole on line from AEA if you Google
for them. It is a good antenna for its size and has a low angle of
radiation. We use to use one on our mountain top repeater and it perform
better than many other commercial antennas. It lasted for a good time in
this hostile environment. I suppose there are better antennas out there
now but the Isopole works FB.

It's normal for many antennas from the ISOPOLE to the 12 L yagis I use
on 2-meters show a short when an ohm meter is connected across the
terminals. That is normally due to the matching network

That is referring to the performance.

Yup. The ISOPOLE should show a short with an ohm meter. You are reading
across a coil/inductor in the base of the antenna. The ISOPOLE works
well, but many antenna work a lot better<:-)) Compared to a set of
beams, or even one of the collinear verticals like the 21' tall Diamond
or Comet antennas and it comes out a poor second.
What the ISOPOLE has going for it is relatively low price, easy to
assemble (although those cones are fragile), easy to put up and it does
work.
