OK how about the inside of the tube(s)? They get gunked up just as bad as the outside of the next size.

Tim,
For cleaning Aluminum tubing I've used: Leather or heavy duty rubber gloves, green Scotch Brite pads, and WD40 as a lubricant. It's a little messy (that's why the gloves) but the metal cleans up fairly well. Whip it down with some old rags after cleaning. Oh, and you WILL use a few "Greenies" and lots of rags.
Good luck on the project.

Chris and Tim,m
For the insides of the tubes I just wrapped a small piece of Scotch pad around a phillips screwdriver and scrubbed the inside in an in-and-out motion. I had never thought about brushes or maybe firearm cleaning brushes, although it might take off or remove some of the aluminum.
