"Climbing with a buddy" doesn't sound very relevant in that case.  The 
guy was either a head case, or climbed up on a dare, or was drunk, or 
something.  He clearly had no business being up there and safety 
considerations certainly had no part in the scenario.  The tower was 
merely a prop in the play.
