Another place to find a backhoe operator who can dig precise, square holes
is your local cemetery.  Those guys work in confined spaces and are used to
getting the sides of the holes straight.  You can "bell" the bottom with a
shovel easily if your specs call for it.

You need a backhoe operator with the right skills.  I know from limited
backhoe experience that I don't have the skill to dig a trench, let alone a
rectangular hole.  The guys who plant septic tanks are the best I've seen at
digging rectangular holes.  And as Mark says, they can be amazingly fast at
doing what they do every day.
