Perhaps a bucket filled with cement with a finishing nail embedded in the
top of the cement at a 45 degree angle away from the tower.
A loop of wire fits around the nail and holds until the force
is enough to overturn the cement bucket, then it comes off.
The "bucket" should probably be a rectangular wastebasket to make
sure it falls in a predictable way without rolling.
