"I see that MFJ/Ameritron has a new lightning protected version of their
5 position antenna switch. I can't seem to find any info on their
website other then them stating the RCS-8VL is the lightning protected
version of the RCS-8V switch. Does anyone know how they are achieving

I have a review of the RCS-12 on my website.  That includes the RCS-10 
remote switch (8-position).  The lightning protection version of that switch 
just has 1500V gas discharge tubes across the coax connectors.  I suspect 
that the RCS-8 is the same.
