[TowerTalk] FW: low band antenna without good ground

So, when the 30 foot x 20 foot grid of 1/2 inch diameter steel rebar
rods on the ground under my vertical, in place for 4 years with,
so far, no real signs of crumbling, do eventually corrode away, 
isn't there still some kind of ferrous oxide left in the ground,
and won't that still provide some enhancement of the ground conductivity?
