DEET won't protect you against ticks!  Don't rely on it.  And deer are 
not the largest carrier of ticks, mice are.  Any time you are walking in 
grass no higher than your ankles you are susceptible to picking up a 
tick or three.  Inspect at the end of your work period, that is the best 
prevention.  My wife went through over 7 years of hell due to a tick 
bite and subsequent Lyme disease.  Prevention by inspection is far 
better than the hell you will go through if you get infected.  73 bob de
